It’s been a really busy couple of months with trips abroad, lots of lovely gigs, an invitation to the BBC Jazz Day in Glasgow and plenty of teaching. A big thanks to everyone for coming along and supporting us at our gigs.
The news is Ted & Gladys - The Rhythm of Life is now back from the pressing plant so the official launch and release date will be coming soon.
If you are wondering about the story behind The Rhythm of Life by Ted & Gladys here it is...
The Rhythm of Life is the first collaborative project by myself and my husband Geoff Gascoyne. For 15 years we have worked in supportive roles on each other’s albums but never together as leaders. This new release combines our energy and enthusiasm for songwriting and features 8 original co-written compositions. It seemed only fitting to use a pseudonym for the project ... Ted and Gladys began as the working title of the project and just stuck really. I’m not sure who is Ted and who is Gladys!
The originals are based on personal experiences, such as “Lovely Blue Dress”, “Rosie” and “Poppies”. Others are inspired by life and love - “Save Me”, “Been so Long”, “Girl Alone” and "The Letter". I’ve also penned lyrics to an Eddie Harris ballad "Without You", which features Anthony Kerr on Vibes and a Yellowjackets tune "With These Hands" featuring Geoff soloing on electric bass.
So a sneak preview of the tracks will appear on the website soon.
